My little guy knew exactly what he wanted to be for halloween this year, and there was no changing his mind!! It's a good thing I was totally on board, and I challenged myself to make his costume instead of buying it. I think that it turned out pretty darn good for my first costume!!
I used this tutorial for making the vest and it was super simple, the hardest part was the hand stitching all around the vest but I think it looks so adorable.
I love that I thought of this idea, I took a small styrofoam circle from Hobby Lobby and wrapped it in white ribbon and attached it to the back with a safety pin for easy removal. I could not believe how many people commented on the pull string!
I lucked out big time and found this yellow long sleeve shirt at the DI, brand new with tags for $4.00!!!! It was even the right size, thank goodness. To draw the lines I used the ruler that came with my rotary mat and a red fabric marker, it took some time and it is certainly not perfect but it pleased the 3 year old.
Our woody hat came from Joann's
This was the thing the little guy was most particular about, he reminded me about 5 times that woody had a holster and that it needed a match in it. I just winged the holster and belt which was made out of fun foam and felt, I used Velcro under the belt buckle for easy removal. Now the belt buckle was the only thing that I did not do, I enlisted the help of my super talented sister who cut it out of felt and put it all together.
The little guy was so happy with his costume and it turned out way cuter and cheaper than the store bought ones!!

It turned out so cute! How creative to add the pull string, it makes the costume. What a find thrifting--I think I may need to check the clothes better, as it seems I never find anything! Thanks for the link on the vest.
OMG! That is SO cute! Maybe I can convince one of my sons to be Woody next year! :)
